Work in Progress - Snowflake Cocktail Hat

This winter has truly been arctic in its intensity, not only here in Boston, but throughout the United States and Europe. My reaction to the cold tends to be unproductive and unhealthy--to hide on the couch covered in blankets staring at televisions or computer screens and wishing for spring. But I have decided to seek my warmth in creative energy this winter--to pull myself out of the cocoon and channel the undeniable beauty of winter into my hats.

The result will be a wool cocktail hat decorated with shisha embroidery in a snowflake motif. This hat is early in the design stages, but I wanted to share my thoughts.

The circles will be small round mirrors and the large snowflake design will be done in white embroidery thread. The whole hat will also be decorated with clear glass seed beads. Stay tuned for more pictures as the hat progresses!
